Solypsis

Solypsis is the primary music project of rhythmic noise producer James Miller, founder of bothCouch Fort Records and Digital Vomit Records. Beside appearing on the aforementioned labels, Solypsis (and his various aliases, including Pulverized Fontanelle, Champions of Superior Winning, and My Boy Is Dead, among others) has also appeared on nearly two dozen independent electronic music labels, such as Hirntrust , Cock Rock Disco, V/Vm Test Records, Hymen Records, Freenoise, Goulburn Poultry Fanciers Society and more.

Initially recording under the moniker “Drone” starting in 1998, James switched to the name Solypsisin 2000. In 2003 Miller had his first “official” release on the UK’s V/Vm Test Records on the double-album compilation “It’s Fan Dabi Dozi!”. That same year he again appeared on V/Vm Test on the comps “Zatsu Okgaku” and “Relax: 36 Illegal Inches”. Tracks from “It’s Fan Dabi Dozi” entitled “Charming Pervert” and “I’d Like To Hold Your Brain” were featured on the BBC Radio 3 programMixing It, as well as WFMU radio New York, WLUW Chicago, and 2RRR radio Sydney, Australia. In September, Solypsis received a positive write-up in The Wire (magazine).

Besides being a prolific producer with dozens of releases to his name, Solypsis is also active in the remix community, having re-mixed or been re-mixed by Datach’i, Terminal 11, Meat Beat Manifesto, Dapose (from Omaha band The Faint), Electric Company(Brad Laner of Medicine (band)), V/Vm, Khonnor, About This Product, Mochipet and others.
